love

"Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no; it is an ever-fixed mark,
That looks on tempests, and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom."
- William Shakespeare, excerpt from Sonnet 116

"A loving Christan is a perfect Christian; set him to any good duty, and he is perfect to it, he is expert at it. Love oils the wheels of his affections, and sets him on that which is helpful to his brethren. A man that goes about a business with ill will, always does it badly."
- Matthew Henry, commentary on 1 John 4

Hanging Rock

Had a wonderful hike with good friends I hadn't connected with in a while. The view was beautiful and the leaves were just starting to turn! Here's a few shots of all the beautiful scenery.

Have a wonderful Wednesday evening!

the enchantments of water

I've been absent for a long time now, but I'm ready to start blogging again. It may not be an every day thing, or even an every week thing, but I'm going to post when I wish to.

Recently so many thoughts have flooded my mind that have inspired me, worried me, but most of all filled me with longing. I'll get into some of it and I will keep some of it in my heart alone.

But for the moment, I am going to post a few pictures of mine (from my Florida beach trip) that fill me with longing for water, an an overwhelming appetite for adventure.

I've always loved water. I want to find adventure in the simplest of things. May adventure always lead me to water.
